Went to see the midwife in Chiba prefecture about 2 1/2 hours away from where I live. She's really good and much more "thinking of my needs" than the hospital doctors. The doctors at the hospital are always talking to me about the importance of showing up (when I only missed once) and they're always explaining about business and how the baby book covers most of the costs of the tests so I should take ALL the tests and blah blah blah.
The midwife checked everything, said nothing is wrong and that I'm healthy enough for her to accept me. (She said before that if I had any complications, she wouldn't be able to accept me.)
She really knows what she's doing and gave me a few to-dos to stretch my hip area and strengthen (and stretch) my nipples. Yikes.
Next check up may be next week (to go back to the hospital and tell them I'm going to have my baby somewhere else), or in another 3~4 weeks at the Midwife's place.
I still don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, but I'm guessing that it's a girl like Mia says. The baby isn't so active and doesn't move around all that much, and when it does, it's not too hard. Maybe it's a gut feeling and I could be wrong. I guess we'll see. Once I find out, I'll definitely post. :)
oh yay do tell, I wanna send a package! midwives rock when they're good, they have a more holistic approach and don't consider you as a 'sick' person. But make sure you do hae a doctor/hospital nearby incase of complications..you will right?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found a midwife that you like and feel better about her then the hospital. Its important to feel comfortable with the location and the person delivering your baby.
ReplyDeleteWhat sort of tests are you thinking of not doing? I would do all the tests if your insurance covers it. Those tests are there for you and your child's well-being. But do what you feel best at the end of the day.
All midwives have to work with a clinic or hospital near by and they have to send you to them every so often for different tests.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of going along with whatever the midwife asks me to do (as far as the tests). There may be some tests along the way that may not be necessary. Thankfully, this midwife is very natural as well as thorough so I trust her judgement. :)
OOH I'm so glad you found a nice midwife you like! We both like our current doctor so much but he told us he's not gonna be at the delivery. :( The doctor in charge of our delivery will be at all of our appointments from now on though ... and he's the head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the hospital we're thinking of having the delivery ... just in Albania our options are so limited ... but we're lucky we got this doctor. :D:D
