A little of what's been happening these days...

-No sleep...I miss it already!

-Lots of diaper changes! Good thing though. -Means he's drinking enough and is healthy.

-Lots of worries about breastfeeding...but both him and I are getting it down slowly. He wants to be nursed soooo often! I couldn't find the balance with feeding on demand (and he's super demanding), and feeding every 2 hours. I couldn't figure out how other mothers can do that whole feed-every-2-hours thing and keep their baby happy.
Then, just yesterday while reading through a baby book a paragraph jumped out at me.
It read, "Babies who were born after a long labor were more likely to cry frequently and to sleep for shorter periods." I thought maybe because of a long labor he feels the need to be close to Mommy. He also doesn't sleep for long unless he's held...and when he's awake he wants to ONLY nurse!
Some mothers have suggested that I buy a pacifier and get some formula...but...He's still so young that I want to try and keep breastfeeding him and not have to default to the other things! -Maybe in the future.

-Nervous and lacking in confidence in caring for such a wee one. I don't like being alone at home, so Josh has been staying with me since Brian's birth.

-No appetite. Mia brought to my attention that I lose my appetite when I'm nervous or stressed! Yup, that's right; I almost forgot! It's good to have people who know you around. Thanks Mia! I'm trying to relax and not worry too much.

-No more time for myself...even to go to the bathroom or take a shower is stress on my part to get back to him fast. I hear him crying in my ears even when he's not crying! I'm going insane!

-Gabe and Mia and Co. came to visit for the weekend! That's been the highlight of the last week!...along with getting baby stuff from Mia and Leika! Thanks Gabe and Mia for making such a long trip with 3 kiddos just for me! I really appreciated it! ILY!

  1. No prob, we enjoyed it and will come again soon for that barbecue. Gambatte ne, you`re doing great! It may not be the healthiest but I doubt you`ll care much at this point but on the days when Josh goes to work ask him to get easy to make, obento type of foods. That and the microwave were a lifesaver to me many a time.

  2. hahaha it'll get better, the hearing the crying part i totally get! You think you hear it when the water is running, totally mental!!

Also get the 2 hourly thing, Amelie was a real sucker!! In my opinion I think you're doing the right thing in holding off on formula and pacifier. The worst thing is to give formula when you're trying to get boobs down. It'll straighten out by the first month for sure!

I gave amelie some sucking relief with the pacifier every once in a while but in the end you have to hold it there and it doesnt seem very practical. Sometimes a nice warm bath relaxes them, the nurse told me to do that every day and it worked quite well. Also if they are too warm they will fall asleep on the boob, so we had to undress amelie every time she fed so she stayed awake. Good to keep awake by even being abit cooler, and they feed for a good 30min straight or something. NIPPLE OUCH :D

Hope things settle down, he really only needs those nappy counts to be met and you know he's getting enough to drink. Take care of yourself! Eat and drink and maybe try and express milk with breast pump and have daddy try and give while you take a nap!

  3. I'm not a mommy expert, But i read in some links where it says to NOT get a pacifier under the age of one month, because they will get use to sucking on a plastic nipple and will have problems latching on to the real deal .. or something like that.

Sam was born after a long labor, but she slept, i had to wake her up to feed her after about two weeks, as she would just sleep if i didn't.
Riley on the other hand, after coming home, she wanted to feed ALL The time, i never could sleep, and this was a quick c-section, lol, eventually we did get a pacifier for her and it HELPED sooooo much, but she didn't even suck on it properly until after one month anyways ... they have to learn that too..i almost gave up with the pacifer too, but eventually she got it and life became sooooo much easier for us all. Sam never used it though. If you can avoid pacifer use, do so. Because now, when Riley starts teething, we'll have to wean her off the paci, so it won't damage her new teeth...

And gosh I remember having NO appetite after labor too. And for a while after...

  5. They usually don't like it at 1st, but if they are crying and colic like, and look as if they want to suck on your nipple all the time, even though they are NOT hungry, then its worth it (did that with my 2nd) but she had to learn it too .. was a pain at 1st ... but once she got it, it was all smooth

  6. Aiden refused the pacifier until just around 2 weeks ago ... now he refuses to let go!
I heard about the nipple confusion thing between bottles, paci's and nipples too ... but I never had a problem switching between bottles and boob with Aiden. I guess I'm lucky!

I had no apetite either until around 2 weeks after the baby was born! But then I was hungry ALL the time! Even at night time feedings I would have to snack on something!
In either case I hope you get your appetite back soon cause baby will take everything out of you if you don't eat right ... I also heard freak stories about if you dont drink enough fluid and eat enough your milk dries up ... kyaaaaaaaaa

    Post more PICTURES JAN!!!!!
